Bengaluru airport is set to begin a phased transition towards mixed-mode runway operations, following approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The move is expected to increase the airport's capacity by up to 42%.

The change comes after similar measures were introduced at Delhi airport. The phased implementation is planned to start from November 11, according to reports. Mixed-mode operations typically involve alternating between different types of aircraft or operational procedures on runways to improve efficiency and throughput.
