British Airways announced that six of its Boeing 787 routes out of London Heathrow are being phased out this year. Four of those—Madrid, Johannesburg, San Jose and Tampa—have already been removed, with the last service on Madrid in late‑October 2026 largely for freight operations in partnership with Iberia.
Other routes are scheduled to disappear as of next month. In particular, Newark Liberty International Airport will see its final 787 flight on November 20; after that no 787s are planned beyond November 30.
Meanwhile, the Dreamliner fleet remains active on 46 global destinations from December 2026 through October 2027, with a new route to Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur commencing in January 2027. These changes mean that travellers using BA’s Heathrow services may see different aircraft or no flights on certain routes during this period.
