The deceased were Patel Ashokaben (49), Rutika Ashokbhai Patel (19), Ghanshyambhai Sarvalia, and driver Surinder Singh from Haridwar. Patel Vedant Ashokbhai (17) was seriously injured; he was rescued from the river, brought to a roadside location, and air-lifted by helicopter to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment.

The missing passengers are Patel Sudaben Ashokbhai (45) and Patel Kiranben Vishalbhai (34). Residents of Sabarmati area in Gujarat were the passengers. Emergency teams from NDRF and SDRF arrived on scene to assist.

Uttarakhand records over 1,000 road accidents each year, with its mountainous terrain and weather conditions raising risk levels. A road safety policy approved in February last year aims to cut accidents by 50% by 2030.
