Dubai celebrated Diwali across Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Al Seef, and Dubai International Airport. The wider Festival of Lights programme ran till November 12, with cultural events, illuminated destinations, dining experiences, and retail promotions.
The highlight was a gold Rangoli weighing 6.5kg created using 213 pieces of jewellery. Live Rangoli art at Dubai International Airport was crafted by artist Snehita Gehlot over four days, drawing passengers and staff from different nationalities. A gold Rangoli promotion let shoppers win 1kg of gold by spending Dh1,500 or more.
The celebrations included cultural events, illuminated destinations, dining experiences, and retail promotions across the city. In the US and UK, Diwali was marked with events in Times Square and Trafalgar Square on October 25.
The UK stage featured about 200 dancers, cultural workshops, and a Ramayana puppet show for younger audiences. The US event offered a special culinary experience at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel.
Indian families celebrated through home decorations, sweets, Lakshmi Puja, and non-Indian communities were invited to experience Indian culture.
