A nationwide general strike in France is causing significant train travel disruptions across the country on 5 November. Major rallies are expected in Paris, Lyon, and Marseille, with some train stations in Paris and Île-de-France closed.

Passengers with cancelled TGV or Intercités trains can get a refund or exchange their ticket. Eurostar advises passengers on connecting journeys to check for travel updates.

The strike is expected to affect high-speed TGV services with minor disruptions. SNCF will contact passengers with cancelled TGV or Intercités tickets and offer refunds or exchanges.

Eurostar said it expects to run a 'near-normal' timetable on Thursday but advised passengers to monitor live updates. While no major flight disruption has been reported, the aviation sector has not ruled out striking.

The UK government has issued a travel warning over demonstrations in France since 22 October, and the UK Foreign Office warns of an increased likelihood of demonstrations in France.
