A new staircase at Prabhadevi station in Mumbai has opened after 80 days of construction. It sits on the western side of the south foot overbridge, offering commuters an extra route to the platform.
The project finished within 80 days after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) granted a no-objection certificate (NOC). To create space, an existing BMC toilet block at the site was dismantled.
Workers faced limited working space, underground cables and water pipelines. Construction ran only during daytime hours to minimise disruption to nearby residential buildings.
Commuters should find improved access and reduced congestion during peak hours now that the staircase is open to the public.
