The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) met on November 6, 2026 aboard a houseboat in the Alappuzha backwaters to review tourism projects in Kerala. The meeting focused on the implementation of the Swadesh Darshan scheme and other initiatives aimed at boosting the state's tourism infrastructure.

During the session, PAC members expressed concerns over the lack of planning for Swadesh Darshan projects and highlighted unresolved land acquisition issues. They also noted the absence of a proper monitoring mechanism to track project progress. The committee suggested promoting lesser-known destinations in Kerala to diversify tourism offerings.

The PAC also raised issues regarding high hotel tariffs even during the off-season, recommending mechanisms to monitor pricing and improve affordability for tourists. BJP MPs Jagdambika Pal, Aparajita Sarangi, and K. Laxman attended the meeting, which was chaired by K.C. Venugopal. The discussion aimed to strengthen tourism infrastructure in the state.

The meeting did not announce any immediate changes or new policies but provided a platform for evaluating current projects and identifying areas for improvement.
