Prateek Hira, founder and CEO of Tornos, has been appointed to the Advisory Council of the Uttar Pradesh State Transformation Commission (STC). The council was newly constituted and includes members from various sectors, including global corporate leaders, economists, scientists, and development experts.

Hira brings 32 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry to the council. His role will focus on making tourism a key pillar of Uttar Pradesh's economic growth. The council will advise on economic growth, employment, and strengthening the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The council includes members such as JB Park, Dr Indermit Gill, Jai Shroff, and others. It will meet at least twice annually, with sector-specific working groups meeting quarterly. Council recommendations will be advisory and submitted to the state government.

The State Transformation Commission aims to support Uttar Pradesh's vision of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy. Hira welcomed the government's inclusion of tourism in Vision 2047 and highlighted the potential for tourism to connect with local businesses, hospitality, transport, guides, and artisans through initiatives like the ODOP (One District One Product) programme.
