India's aviation sector is poised for a green shift beginning in 2027, when airlines will have to mix Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with conventional Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). The change follows the release of a draft National Policy on Sustainable Aviation Fuels by the civil aviation ministry.

The policy remains in draft form and has not yet been finalized. It signals the start of mandatory blending but does not disclose what percentage of SAF will be required or when the requirement will take effect.
