Foreign airlines operating from Mumbai have approached the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), seeking clarification on whether it has approved Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), operated by the Adani Group, to shift flights on 14 international routes to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) starting from the summer schedule in March 2027. The move is linked to concerns over airport capacity and historical slot allocations.

The Airlines Operators Council (AOC) has expressed concern about MIAL's plans, which could reduce airport capacity by 5 million passengers annually. This may impact the historical slots allocated to Gulf carriers operating from Mumbai. No official confirmation or approval of the shift has been announced yet.
