Ramesh Chennithala, Kerala Home Minister, warned pilgrims not to dump clothes, slippers or spit in the Pamba River during the upcoming pilgrimage season. The minister made this appeal after reviewing preparations that are now in their final stages.

He noted there is no religious or customary practice of discarding items in the river and called on devotees to help preserve its cleanliness. The minister added that 90% of the work for the pilgrimage season is already complete.

The Sabarimala pilgrimage season will begin on September 17, with preparations nearing completion.
